Gonzo gastronome and international bestselling author of Kitchen Confidential - Tony Bourdain details his world tour of unprecedented culinary adventures from the Far East (Japan) to the West (France).
Beschreibung
The only thing Anthony Bourdain loves as much as cooking is traveling. A COOKS TOUR is the shotgun marriage of these two passions. Inspired by the question, What would be the perfect meal? Tony sets out on a quest for his culinary holy grail, and turns the notion of perfection inside out. In A COOKS TOUR, the adventurous chef crisscrosses the world, sampling local delicacies from the sublime to the bizarre. In Japan, he eats traditional Fugu, a poisonous blowfish that can be fatal if prepared incorrectly. He travels to Cambodia, up the mine-studded road to Pailin into autonomous Khmer Rouge territory and to Phnom Penhs Gun Club, where local fare is served up alongside a menu of available firearms. In Saigon, hes treated to a sustaining meal of live cobra heart before moving on to savor a snack with the Viet Cong in the Mekong Delta. Meanwhile in the west, an entire Portuguese village has been fattening a pig for months in anticipation of his arrival. When he reaches France, KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL fans will recognize the Gironde of Tonys youth in a moving personal journey to France--with his brother, he visits the tiny fishing village where he sampled his first oyster forty years ago. To Moscow and London, the Sahara and Mexico, the lochs of Scotland and back home again, Bourdains itinerary touches every corner of the globe. Throughout his travels, Bourdain discovers again and again the importance of community, of kinship, and the power of food to bring people together. Written with Bourdains charcteristic bite and bravado, A COOKS TOUR chronicles the unpredictable and tantalizing adventures and misadventures of Americas boldest and bravest chef.
